Inventory Control

The systematic management of medicine stock to maintain optimal levels and minimise waste and losses.

Inventory control in pharmacy involves setting minimum and maximum stock levels, tracking movements, monitoring expiries, and reconciling physical counts. Good inventory control prevents both stockouts (running out of medicines) and overstock (holding too much, risking expiry). Key methods include ABC analysis, FIFO, and perpetual inventory systems.
