FIFO Method
First In, First Out — dispensing the oldest stock first to minimise expiry waste.
FIFO (First In, First Out) is an inventory management principle where the oldest stock is used or sold before newer stock. In pharmacy, this means medicines received earlier are dispensed first, reducing the risk of products expiring on the shelf. FIFO is especially important for medicines with short shelf lives. Musawo supports FIFO through lot number and expiry date tracking on every stock receipt.
